The Grundy Center boy’s golf team for the 3rd consecutive year captured the NICL West Conference title. The Spartans shot a team score of 307 topping runner-up Eldora-New Providence by 29 strokes. AGWSR finished third at 339. Junior Bobby Ayers claimed medalist honors to lead the Spartan attack, which landed four All-Conference performers. Ayers posted a 73, and fired a first round 32 one stroke off the course record. Junior Taylor Schupbach earned runner-up medalist honors with a 76. Schupbach posted the low second round score with an even-par 36, and beat Austin Peters of Gladbrook-Reinbeck in three-hole playoff to claim runner-up. Sophomore Zach Swalley finished fourth place carding a 77, and junior Grant Stevens posted a 81 to finish sixth place after winning a two-hole playoff. Michael Henely and Brett Speirs shot 83’s to round out the Spartan line-up. Mr. Dirks had these comments “Shooting a record score, placing four on the All-Conference Team, and winning the NICL meet for the third consecutive year is very rewarding. Even more satisfying is knowing we could have taken our four highest scores and still won the meet by 12 strokes. Varsity Results:
